Add a personalised card to FRED parcels
Save a postcard for a brand and select it when ordering.
Published by FRED · Updated
FRED offers an A6 postcard, 105 × 148 mm in portrait or 148 × 105 mm in landscape, printed on the front on 260 g/m² smooth-finish paper. The back remains blank. A 4 mm white border is added when printing. Supply a 1240 × 1748 px (portrait) or 1748 × 1240 px (landscape) image in PNG, JPEG or WebP format, without animation. Orientation is detected automatically and retained in the preview and manufacturing PDF.
You can save several named designs per brand. A saved card
is never added automatically: choose its insert_id for the order.
Customise a template in the dashboard
Select your brand in the selector, then open Settings → Inserts → A6 postcard → Configure the A6 card. For this insert type, you can Upload a card or Browse templates. Ten styles are available: Orange studio, Checkerboard pop, Pastel confetti, Pink mail, Botanical workshop, Golden midnight, Independent edition, Neon signal, Electric club and Earth & ink. Nine fonts are included in the studio: Lilita One, Fredoka, Caveat, Space Grotesk, DM Serif Display, Space Mono, Bungee, Anton and Cormorant Garamond. You can edit text, fonts and colours, move or resize elements, change their order and upload your logo. Portrait and landscape modes are available. Saving retains the print-ready artwork and editable design; Edit reopens your elements.
The API returns this design in design for cards created with the studio.
Replacing the artwork without a new design removes the old editable
elements from the new version so they do not contradict the printed artwork.
Create a card and get its ID
Find your brand_id in Settings → Branding after selecting the brand. A key restricted to that brand
cannot read or modify another brand's cards. Uploading requires
the brands:manage and files:write scopes.
curl https://api.fredpod.com/v1/brands/brand_exemple/inserts/upload \
-H "X-API-Key: $FRED_API_KEY" \
-F 'name=Thank you for your order' \
-F 'file=@carte-1240x1748.png;type=image/png'The 201 response contains the saved card, including id, name, brand_id,
artwork_url, version and specification. Keep its id (ins_…).
Saving does not trigger payment. The ID is returned in the
API response; it can also be copied from the dashboard.
Find and edit your designs
GET /v1/brands/{brand_id}/inserts: the brand's active cards.GET /v1/brands/{brand_id}/inserts/{insert_id}: a card and its specifications.PATCH /v1/brands/{brand_id}/inserts/{insert_id}: edit the name or artwork. Editing creates a new version with a newid. Use this new ID for future orders.DELETE /v1/brands/{brand_id}/inserts/{insert_id}: archive a design.
Existing orders retain their version, even after editing or archiving. The dashboard provides uploading, a preview with the border, naming and archiving in Settings → Inserts → A6 postcard.
Add the card to an order
A card costs €2.50 excluding VAT per order, or €3.00 including the currently applied 20% VAT, regardless of the number of objects.
This surcharge is added to the printing and shipping quote total.
The max_total_cents field must cover the total including the card.

}Send this JSON to POST /v1/storefront/orders with your usual Idempotency-Key.
insert_id also works for a direct order with product_id.
If you omit insert_id, FRED inherits the card saved in the quote or product.
Explicitly send insert_id: null to order without a card.
The order response indicates insert_id, insert_cents and the actual
total_cents retained. An archived design or one belonging to another brand is rejected.
Compatible manufacturers
Quote options expose supplier.postcard_a6. If you select
option_id yourself, choose a manufacturer for which this field is true. Otherwise, FRED
selects an available option compatible with the card.
The workshop receives a print-ready A6 PDF with the chosen version. It confirms the card is included during packing, before creating the shipping label.
